Jenna Tenn-Yuk is a spoken word artist, public speaker and educator. She was a member of the 2010 Canadian Festival of Spoken Word Wild Card team, and has performed at Parliament Hill, City Hall, Pecha Kucha, numerous conferences and has given a TEDx Talk. Jenna was awarded a Tontine award for her project that seeks to engage people in spoken word by providing free workshops.
Jeannette Tossounian is an artist who has compiled a series of jail sketches and jail poems created in her cell at an Ontario womens detention centre called 'Songs from the Slammer'.
Thee Market hosted by Felicity and Joanis is a space by and for Black artists, chefs, photographers, and community members in so-called Ottawa to showcase their creative pursuits outside of the language of capitalist growth and accumulation. Instead, Thee Market prioritizes engaging kin in conversations and behaviours to support the reallocation of funds and resources to the Black community in ways that also demonstrate commitment to anti-racist and anti-imperialist ways of being in the world.
